BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Directors Present: Oksendahl, Ostbye, Wheeler, Zimmerman, Tollefson, Hart, Valentine (by phone), Peltier (by phone)

Directors Absent: Uglem

Also Present: Rocky Swanson, Moriya Rufer, Jason Vinje (RMB Labs), Nathan Olson (DNR)

President Ostbye called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. Everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Oksendahl moved to accept the proposed agenda and Tollefson seconded the motion which subsequently passed. Zimmerman moved that the minutes be approved as written. Hart seconded that motion and the motion carried. Valentine presented the financial report. The Annual meeting cost for mailing, printing and other election requirements was approximately $6000. Wheeler moved to accept the financial report. Hart seconded the motion and the Directors approved the motion.

The Directors decided to keep the same slate of officers for the year 2010. Tollefson moved that Otsbye remain as President, Uglem as Vice-president, Wheeler as Secretary and Valentine as Treasurer. Hart seconded the motion and the motion passed. Other committee assignments are as follows: buoys—Oksendahl and Hart; public access---Zimmerman and Peltier; mosquito control---Hart; flowering rush and invasive species—Tollefson; coordinator liaison—Peltier.

Nathan Olson discussed with the Board the discovery of zebra mussels near Provan Beach. In as much as 740 hours during the summer of 2009 were devoted to inspection of boats and boat trailers entering the lake, this discovery is very disappointing. Each zebra mussel filters about one quart of water each day removing the food source for game fish. Residents are asked to notify Nathan Olson at 218-739-7576 ext 259 if any additional zebra mussels are found. The DNR also asks residents to inspect their docks and lifts for zebra mussels. To date, there is nothing available to eradicate this invasive species. Moriya announced that she will be leaving on maternity leave and that Jason Vinje will be her replacement.

Hart reported that some of the buoys have been removed and will be inspected for zebra mussels. Tollefson is soliciting quotes for the vegetation survey and for spraying curly leaf pondweed.

Ostbye adjourned the meeting at 8:52PM.
