Highway 20 culvert Total Phosphorus The Pelican River is the highest contributor of phosphorus to the Pelican Group of Lakes (see graphs). The Hwy 20 culvert is a sample site directly upstream from Little Pelican Lake. This first graph shows the comparison of total phosphorus loading between years. As is typical with streams in Minnesota, the spring thaw combined with spring rains produces the highest phosphorus loading of the year. 2011 was a typical year for phosphorus loading.
